The work begins...

LONG TIME, NO SEE!
Before the update I must announce that I have officially named my glamper... drum roll, please *********************************************************************************
GERTRUDE

So I decided the first thing after cleaning would be painting the interior of the camper. I quickly found out that task sounded much simpler than it was in reality. Therefore, I decided I would stick to painting the faces of doors and cabinets as well as the walls... discarding the creative direction that I would in fact paint EVERY SURFACE of the camper.... If I decide I want to take on that task I can do so in the future.

So, with the help of my lovely friend Mel I was able to get the cabinets and doors painted. I chose an antique look (which is hard to see in the pics below) and I must say I really like it!

The renovation is moving VERY SLOWWWWWW but hey, small steps in the right direction.

Here are the finished cabinets/drawers/doors. Next up, painting the wall!!!

Team Meeting

On Saturday 5/21/16 I had another meeting with my team leader, Beard, aka Bill Kelley, aka Dad lol
We simply revisited the to-do list and made a more concrete plan for the GLAMPING process.

We have planned to seal the roof and start on the floor next Saturday... wish us luck! I will keep you posted!

Planning Process

Today my Dad came over and helped me go through the camper and make a list of projects. I have a vision slowly coming together and am grateful that my family has agreed to help me in the process. I can't wait to get started but must say that I am slightly overwhelmed. I want to change nearly everything about the camper in it's current state and until today I did not realize how long the to-do list would be! I can't wait until I type the finished glamper post because I know it will all be worth it in the end.

Spring Cleaning

Well, its not really Spring cleaning considering that it is Fall... but you get the point. After returning home from a craft show with my Mudder I decided to finish up the deep cleaning of the camper. I didn't realize that this task would be so time intensive! I have finally finished and have started my honey-do list to  organize the planned transformation of my camper into a glamper.

I need my dad to come over so that he can help me figure out a game plan and also help me with the many projects I already have planned. Thank goodness he is a carpenter by trade because I need all the handy help I can get. I will continue to keep you posted but won't have much to update until I get an extra set of eyes and hands on the project.

I think that I have narrowed down name choices to Queenie, Americus, or Dixie. Don't be surprised if the name I finally choose is not any of these... I'm truly torn!

Glamping Newbie

II have always wanted a camper. When  I was a kid other families had comfy campers to settle into at night while we snuggled up in our tent... unless it rained at which point we slept in the back of our station wagon. In childhood tent camping was an adventure but even then I knew I was meant for a comfy camper. As I grew older I realized how much I enjoyed camping as well as outdoor music festivals. Again, always in a tent. This past Summer when my gal pal since Kindergarten and I drove all the way to Delaware for the Big Barrel Country Music Festival we arrived to find tornado watches and a thunderstorm.  We were not enthusiastic about setting up the tent and getting soaked but thankfully we were not electrocuted! After a weekend full of camping in the rain and heat... we decided we no longer found tent camping an adventure. There was nothing fun about a 27 year old being hungover, soaked in a tent, waiting in line in the blazing sun for a portable shower, or splashing through mud puddles at the crowded porta potties. So, after much consideration I decided to purchase my first camper.

Now, thanks to Pinterest I have discovered the art and creativity of Glamping (glamorous camping). I strongly encourage you to browse some glamper before and after makeovers to see what kind of imagination can go into a camper remodel project.

I am in the beginning stages of transforming my camper into a Glamper. I hope to chronicle the transformation though this blog and stay motivated by writing about the process. Today I start with the basics, DEEP CLEANING. Meanwhile I will start the list of what I want to change, fix, and update!

So far I have determined that aside from the deep cleaning I need to narrow down a name and a decorative direction.  Here is where my brainstorming is currently:

Names: Lola, Dowler, Cheshire Cat, Cabela, Thelma, Americus, Queenie, Dixie, Gertrude
Decor: glitter, brass, lace, feathers, arrows, country music lyrics, skulls, crochet, quilting, antique/vintage frames, brooches.
